People living in Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to sign a petition against cuts to youth services in the area.

Staffordshire County Council says changes are needed as only one in five young people use the services provided.

But former youth worker Jennie Crosby – who has started the online petition – says services for young people are vital.

“As a local resident and former youth worker I’m passionate about the youth service and the work it does,” she said.

“These cuts would have a devastating effect on young people, parents, carers and communities in which young people live, study, volunteer and work in, as well as public and voluntary organisations who work in partnership with the Staffordshire Youth Service.

“Staffordshire youth workers are skilled, professional and experienced people who care about young people and make a difference to peoples’ lives.

“What the County Council are proposing will destroy a much needed service.”

The e-petition can be found on Staffordshire County Council’s website.

As usual, these “vital” services are more important to those on the payroll than the supposed beneficiaries who seemingly cannot survive without them.
