A new campaign is hoping to get more people back in the water at a Lichfield leisure centre.

The Love Your Pool initiative comes after the £500,000 makeover of the changing rooms and reception area at Friary Grange Leisure Centre.

The campaign will see two people allowed to swim for the price of one from February 14 to 16.

Councillor Andy Smith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Parks, said: “We’re keen to showcase the recent improvements to Friary Grange Leisure Centre and to get even more people swimming.

“This is why we’re launching the ‘Love Your Pool’ campaign, which encourages people to rediscover what the swimming pool timetable has to offer. So, whether you’re coming to the pool to have fun with friends, are learning to swim, or want to keep fit, we have a session for you.”

The pool never seems to be open when I as a single elderly male can get there. I used to visit the Gym three time a week during the day and tried to synchronise my visits with the pool times. That was hardly ever possible, and evenings were even worse. If the pool itself has been re-furbished then great. You will however need to make more accesible times available, and not change them term to term as you have been doing which is a useless idea to say the least. Perhaps you could have a senior citizenz or at least adult only times on the new programme.

Didn’t stretch to a baby pool then? Still got to drive to Burton for that facility.
