New video sheds light on Staffordshire Hoard conservation

A new update has been released, charting the progress of attempts to understand the Staffordshire Hoard.

The Anglo-Saxon artefacts were dug up in a Hammerwich field in 2009.

And now research is helping to piece together some of the stories of the items among the unique discovery.

Dr David Symons, curator of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, revealed that the Hoard was still offering up insights into Anglo-Saxon times.

“The surprise is how rich the warrior aristocracy of that time must have been,” he said.

Research has also revealed how more than 1,500 pieces of the Hoard come from a single helmet.
