Jobs fair produces instant results for Lichfield man

A Lichfield man bagged himself a job just minutes after attending a careers fair.

Andrew Cole, 24, was among 200 people looking for information about getting back into work at the event organised by Bromford.

But he made an instant impression on Jackie Coogan from Fairway Homecare to land a role as a community carer.

“I used to work for a local care home but have been unemployed for five months,” Andrew said. “I have struggled to get back into a job but when I went to the event and spoke to Jackie, she said I was absolutely perfect and when could I start?

“I’m absolutely over the moon and look forward to starting.”

The company’s recruitment manager Jackie added: “On meeting Andrew and hearing about his healthcare background, I realised he was an exceptional candidate with a wealth of experience and so we recruited him immediately.”

Around 30 employers attended the event.

Michael Pritchard, skills manager at Bromford, said: “I am really proud of what everyone achieved with this event – it’s amazing that we’re already seeing some positive results and we look forward to giving more updates next week.

“It shows employers and partners how serious we are about the part we can play in tackling unemployment.”
