Plans for 24 new “affordable” homes near Lichfield City Station have been given the go-ahead.
The mix of two bedroom houses and one and two bedroom flats will be built on land off Davidson Road.
The properties will be available for rent through Midland Heart as part of the City Wharf development.
Originally planned for business use, the land has now been repurposed as the developers explained: “During the market slump it has remained uneconomic for the current owner to market and build out this remaining site for commercial use, so the site has therefore laid vacant for a number of years.
“The site has therefore been marketed in an endeavour to complete the redevelopment and increase the affordable housing provision within the city centre.
“In delivering 100 per cent affordable housing – a significant increase over the minimum requirements of the District Council – this development will provide a positive response to the identified housing need for affordable homes within the district and specifically within the city centre.”
