Lichfield District Council’s cabinet is set to discuss proposals to extend a deal to share building control services with neighbouring authorities.
The service is currently offered as part of a partnership with South Staffordshire Council and Tamworth Borough Council, but the agreement is due to end at the start of 2015.
However, a report to a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s cabinet next week is recommending entering into a new “long term agreement”.
The partnership began in 2012 and the report claims it has been a success: “The two key objectives were to build resilience and reduce the council’s costs.
“Both of these objectives have been achieved.”
The new agreement being planned would see a rolling contract introduced.
