The housekeepers are being introduced across the Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Their roles are designed to assist the medical staff and help patients settle into the hospital surroundings.

Vannessa Rolinson, from the Trust, said: “They will provide a front-of-house role and will be the eyes and ears of the department, making sure that the wards are clutter-free and that any faults with equipment are reported and put right as quickly as possible.”

The housekeepers will also be responsible for jobs such as distributing meals and drinks, ensuring there are adequate supplies of clean linen and liaising with the hospital’s domestic staff.

Vannessa added: “We are really pleased to welcome these new staff members to the Trust and they are going to be a valuable asset to the teams they are joining around our hospitals.”
