Online surveys have been created to help understand needs and feelings of local residents, according to Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis.

The completed surveys so far have revealed:

  • 90 per cent of residents think it is important to be able to trace people’s activity online to prevent serious organised crime.
  • 56 per cent of residents would prefer to remain completely anonymous online.
  • 59 per cent of residents believe Neighbourhood Watch creates a community feeling.
  • 51 per cent of residents think the police share of council tax should increase, 39 per cent believe it should stay the same and 10 per cent think it should be cut.

Mr Ellis said: “I’m really keen to hear views on some national and some local issues, such as investment in Neighbourhood Watch, should we spend more or less on policing, online fraud and security and then national security.”

The surveys can be completed on the Police and Crime Commissioner’s website.
