A Lichfield project to help people with disabilities learn new skills has been boosted by a £500 donation.
Lichfield Riding for the Disabled was given the money by M6 Toll owners Midland Expressway Limited.
The organisation has been based at the home of Helen and Darren Martin for 20 years and gives opportunities to people with learning or physical disabilities to learn to ride.
Their work was recently seen by their patron, HRH Princess Anne, who met with volunteers and riders.
Debbie Hoskins, chair of Lichfield Riding for the Disabled, said: “The donation that the M6 Toll gave enabled us to host a fantastic event for the visit of Princess Anne.
“This brought together our riders past and present, our brilliant volunteers who do an amazing job, week in and week out, and their families.
“It was a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our group and the generosity and unstinting support of Helen and her family.
“The event was a true celebration and a resounding success – everyone was thrilled to meet Princess Anne who was so lovely and engaging.
“Thanks to the kindness of other supporters and those who attended we raised additional funds which will be used to further support the organisation.”
