The chairman of a local sports club has called on the community to support them in their bid to upgrade their facilities. Geoff Millington, chairman of Barton-under-Needwood’s non-profit Hollands Sports Club (HSC), is asking for the public to vote for their project on the Aviva Community Fund website. He said: “HSC took over the grounds from Bass Cricket Club back in the 1970s. Since then, we’ve focused our efforts on improving the sports facilities to accommodate for a variety of sports to help bring the local community together. “However, the changing rooms we use have seen barely lick of paint and although usable, could do with a complete refurbishment. “Every week, the changing rooms are available to be used by more than 40 different sports teams accommodating more than 500 individuals from all over Staffordshire and Derbyshire. “Over the last 40 years, this footfall, along with the mud, sweat and tears, has taken it’s toll on the facilities. “A couple of local lads were kind enough to put a video together outlining our funding application and we would really appreciate it people having a look at the video and following the links to vote in support of our bid.”
