The celebrations will be on ice for one Conservative councillor, despite his party’s emphatic victory in the local elections in Lichfield and Burntwood.
Richard Cox was re-elected for the Armitage with Handsacre ward after topping the poll with 2,017 votes.
“I was here for the parliamentary count but the fantastic results have made it all worthwile.
“I think I’ll have a sleep and then celebrate over the weekend.”
Cllr Cox insisted that his victory was down to one thing.
“Working hard for the community is the key to success,” he said. “I’m privileged to have beeen elected for the fourth time, but I’ve had to build on it every time and work hard.”
The other successful candidates in the Armitage with Handsacre ward were Cllr Cox’s Conservative colleagues Tom Marshall and Martyn Tittley.
