An independent candidate missed out on election to Lichfield District Council but said he was pleased with his efforts.

Jack Andrea stood in the Armitage with Handsacre ward and picked up 516 votes.

He was beaten to the post by Conservative trio Richard Cox, Tom Marshall and Martyn Tittley with 2017, 1917, 1828 votes respectively.

But the 19-year-old was not downhearted.

“I was really pleased with the results,” he said.

“I would like to have seen more diversity and more younger councillors, but there’s always next time.”

What you need Jack, I think, is to consider joining the Labour Party, to help make positive changes both locally and nationally.
