Shoppers in Lichfield can play detective to win tickets to see a new production at the Garrick.
On Saturday morning (May 16), the Lichfield Players’ cast will be asking passers by to guess who they think the murderer is in their next production – Murder in Play – which opens on May 19.
“Murder in Play is a thriller but Simon Brett’s writing is also brilliantly entertaining,” said director Phil Shaw. “To get into the spirit of the show, we thought it would be fun to run a light-hearted Cluedo-style competition as we hand out promotional flyers.
“We’re asking people to choose a murderer, a room and a murder weapon from a given list of possibles. People who get the combination right as it happens on stage could be going with a friend to see a production of their choice from our new 2015/16 season for free.
“Our next season, which opens in October, hasn’t been fully published yet, but plays include a frivolous French farce, a girls’ night out with a difference, a comedy about the pitfalls of hypnosis and an hilarious insight into boarding school life.”
Murder in Play is based around director Boris Smolenski’s budget rep company who are struggling to get their production of Murder at Priorswell Manor up to scratch. But nothing – and nobody – is quite what they seem, and it’s not long before there’s a body and secrets the suspects would prefer to remain hidden start to spill out.
The Lichfield Players’ production of Murder in Play runs from May 19 to 23. To book, call 01543 412121 or visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com.
