Businesses urged to donate pallets to help firefighters with their training

Businesses in Lichfield and Burntwood are being asked to donate wooden pallets to help firefighters in their training.

Crews have to undergo regular training and the pallets play a vital part in recreating different blaze scenarios.

Watch Manager Jon Crew said: “It is absolutely vital that all of our operational staff regularly take part in fire behaviour drills. To do this we need a constant supply of pallets that can be set alight to allow firefighters to gain vital experience in a safe and controlled manner.

“I would urge any businesses, or residents, that have pallets that they are no longer using to contact us. By donating the pallets, you will be playing an important part in helping to keep local residents safe.”

Businesses that would like to donate pallets – in any condition – are asked to email and arrange for the fire service to collect them.
