Chasetown FC’s new manager has revealed that the job was “too big” to ignore.
Dave Stringer won the battle to succeed Marcus Law at the helm earlier this week.
But the former Rugby Town boss revealed he had to break a promise to his wife in order to land the job.
“I had been tempted to take a break from football this year and had said to my wife I was going to take some time off,” he told the Chasetown FC website. “But when this job came up with the facilities, fan base and massive potential, it was too big an opportunity to turn down.”
Stringer – who will be joined by assistant Tony Clark – said he did not plan to dismantle last season’s squad, but intended to bolster it where possible.
“Continuity is important so I hope to keep last season’s squad as well as brining in players of my own,” he said.
