Sam and the Womp

The headline acts for the expanded Lichfield Rocks Festival and been revealed.

This year’s event will take place over the full weekend of June 27 and 28 at The Bowling Green Inn.

Organisers have revealed that Sam and the Womp and EofE will top the bill this time around, following in the footsteps of Lucy Spraggan who headlined last year.

A spokesperson said: “This year’s headline act for the Saturday are known by most for their chart topping single ‘Bom Bom,’ which sold over 100,000 copies in its first week of release. The trio’s unique mix of Balkan music and electronic dance has been heavily supported by BBC Radio One and helped the group achieve worldwide fame.

“Headlining on the Sunday are fast-rising Dudley rockers EofE. The group enjoyed a sensational 2014 touring with the likes of The Vamps and McBusted. Although they may have only formed a year and a half ago, the group has already enjoyed a top 10 single in the UK rock charts, with debut single Lust peaking at number eight.”

The two-day event will be opened by ex-Britain’s Got Talent finalist Rose O’ Sullivan. Also completing the two-day line up are local acts such as The Breakdowns, The Retrospectives, I, The Lion, the Bad Flowers, and more.

Last year’s Lichfield Rocks raised more than £2,000 for charity and will this year be fundraising for The Olive Circle Foundation and Jack Oldacres, a local resident born with rare skin disease Netherton’s syndrome.

Mo Zaami, manager of The Bowling Green Inn, added: “We are in our third year now and looking forward to our biggest festival to date.

“We are bringing a fun fair, stalls, games, raffles and so much more. We are making this a family fun weekend with attractions and the best in local music.”
