A motorcyclist has died after a crash near Lichfield.

The rider, a 24-year-old from the Tamworth area, was involved in a crash with a HGV on the A513 between Croxall and Elford at 8.45am this morning.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived the man riding the motorcycle had suffered serious injuries and was in cardiac arrest.

“Advanced life support was carried out by medics, with the support of an off duty fireman and retired police officer, but unfortunately nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the lorry, a man, was assessed and discharged at scene.”

Police say the road was closed until 1.30pm while investigations were carried out.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the blue and white Suzuki motorbike beforehand is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting incident number 156 of June 25.
