A councillor has warned that other areas will need to take a fair share of new housing if a development in Burntwood is approved.
Lichfield District Council’s planning committee tonight (July 13) will make a final decision on proposals for 350 new homes on land off the town’s bypass.
A report to the meeting has recommended approving the scheme.
Local Labour councillor Di Evans has said the town will be unable to take any other large-scale developments if this one is given the go-ahead.
“We have to ask why some areas take more of the housing than others,” she said. “Burntwood can’t keep taking housing for Lichfield too – it’s saturated.
“If this new development is approved in Burntwood then there will be no other large pieces of land left to build on.”
