Lichfield and Burntwood’s MP has hailed a drop in unemployment in the area.

New figures show that 0.7% of people were unemployed in June.

Michael Fabricant MP said: “The Lichfield constituency is now in the top 4% of all constituencies throughout the United Kingdom for employment.

“Lichfield is a great place to live and work. It has an educated and skilled workforce and is close to major motorway and rail connections.”

The figures reveal that 317 people claimed unemployment benefits – 13 lower than the previous month and 276 lower than the same period in 2014.

  1. Any comment about Burntwood, Mr Fabricant? It’s just west of Lichfield. Take the A461 and turn off on the A5190 – you can’t miss it.
