A Burntwood councillor says another promise has been broken over a new health centre in the town. The former Greenwood House care home has been earmarked as the new site for a number of GP practices.
Cllr Eric Drinkwater
But after a planned date to start work in June passed, Labour councillor Eric Drinkwater said the people of Burntwood had been let down again. “This has gone on longer than The Forsyte Sage,” he said. “It’s another of the promises Burtnwood have had on health provision, but again we are not getting anywhere. “There was a statement made to the council that work would start on Greenwood House in June this year, but that date has come and gone. “It’s just another promise that has gone out of the window.” But Conservative councillor Alan White insisted Greenwood House had not been forgotten about. “We still have the plans,” he said. “But there is a disagreement with the developers over the price. “Negotiations are ongoing and the plans are still there.”

One reply on “Burntwood councillor blasts broken promises over Greenwood House health centre plans”

  1. This is a little disappointing from Eric who has been a councillor for a long time. He will know that with any development, technical issues can arise that can cause delays. I have been committed to improving Burntwood’s health provision since I became a Cabinet member at SCC: I said that Greenwood House will be delivered, and if he looks at the County Council website he will see the decision is scheduled to be made at the September 2015 Cabinet meeting.
