People are set to get their first look at the latest plans for the Friarsgate redevelopment in Lichfield.
The original scheme has been reimagined due to changes in the economy since thew project was first drawn up.
The new Friarsgate will see shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, a cinema, housing, bus station and car park.
The designs will go on display on July 17 and July 25 from 11am to 4pm.
Councillor Mike Wilcox, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said: “Lichfield’s Birmingham Road area needs to be revitalised in a way that will link up to and complement the rest of the city centre.
“If approved by our Planning Committee, Friarsgate will have a huge impact on our local economy. Projections are that it will create up to 630 jobs and help to boost sales and footfall to the whole city.”
The exhibition will take place in an empty unit in the Three Spires Shopping Centre. The plans will also be available to view online.
Scott Davidson, from the council’s partner Development Securities PLC, said: “We are looking forward to sharing our revised proposals for Friarsgate and consulting with local people to gain valuable feedback.
“Our ambition is to create an exciting new mixed-use destination in the centre of Lichfield that complements the existing retail offer and further establishes the city centre as a thriving place to shop, eat and live.”
Feedback can be submitted online before August 10 or at the exhibitions. A planning application will then be submitted later this year.
