Registration will open for the 2016 Staffordshire Ironman competition tomorrow (August 12).
The inaugral event this year saw thousands of competitors take on a 1.2 mile swim of Chasewater, a 56 mile bike ride through Cannock Chase and a 13.1 mile run ending at Shugborough.
The course will remain the same for the 2016 race, which will take place on June 12.
County councillor Mark Winnington said organisers expected the event to continue to grow in popularity.
“The first Staffordshire Ironman was a huge success story from start to finish.
“I am absolutely confident that the event is going to grow in stature and popularity and in the second year we will be really encouraging residents, businesses and schools to play an even greater role in making it even better.”
Online registration will open at 1pm tomorrow.
Last year’s event saw TV chef Gordon Ramsey and Ironman world champion Javier Gomez among the 2,000 strong field.
Kevin Stewart, managing director of Ironman UK & Ireland, said: “We have had so much great feedback from athletes about their experience in Staffordshire, with so many competitors commenting on the fantastic reception they were given.
“There will be many keen to return again this year and many athletes who missed out in year one, keen to be part of it in 2016.
“Places are limited and when they are gone they are gone, so we would encourage anyone wanting to take on the Ironman challenge to register when entries open.”
