Head teacher Susan Hannam praised the students for their hard work and highlighted how their other activities had contributed to their success.

“Once again we are delighted with the achievements of our students and there have been some exceptional results,” she said. “Many students gained top grades across the board and are now progressing to the university course of their choice.

“We are proud to say that, in addition to achieving excellent academic results, many students freely gave their time to make a contribution to wider aspects of school life, the local community and further afield.

“These students have been outstanding leaders, fundraising for many charities, mentoring younger pupils and volunteering in Lichfield and at the Waterloo Schools Project in Sierra Leone.

“Their achievements have been nothing short of inspirational.”

Among the success stories was Helen Denning, who gained 3 As and a B and is going to the Birmingham School of Acting for a Foundation year, before going on to a degree course in Acting.

Other destinations for students include universities of Birmingham, Lancaster, Loughborough and Sussex.

Head of Sixth Form, Dr Andrew Watkins, added: “Students, staff and parents have much to celebrate in this set of results, which reflect the high standards of teaching and learning.

“Our thanks and congratulations go to the students and staff who have worked incredibly hard and to parents for their continued support.”
