People in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded to only buy fireworks from licenced shops. In the run up to bonfire night, Staffordshire County Council’s trading standards team has been working with companies to make sure they are being sold correctly. Cllr Gill Heath said: “We want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time over the bonfire night period. “The vast majority of traders are responsible and safe. However fireworks can be lethal and so we need to know about unlicensed traders and those who are selling fireworks unlawfully, putting communities at risk. “I would encourage people to call the national trading standards line or the fireworks hotline for any further information.” Anyone being offered fireworks from an unlicenced venue such as a car boot sale or a private house is asked to call 03454 04 05 06.
