Police officers on patrol

A telephone fault left Staffordshire Police unable to answer 101 or 999 calls earlier today.

West Midlands Police took over answering 999 calls during the outage, although the 101 number remained out of action while engineers tried to resolve the issue.

A spokesperson said: “We’d like to thank people for their understanding and we apologise for any inconvenience.

“We can reassure everyone that 999 calls were still being answered throughout the fault period.”
