A support group in Burntwood to help mums with post-natal depression has celebrated its first birthday.

More than 30 mothers have been helped at the Burntwood Pandas sessions, which run on Thursday mornings from 10am to 11.30am at the Spark Springhill centre.

The group, which is linked to the national Pandas charity, is designed to support new parents suffering with anxiety who may find baby and toddler groups overwhelming.

Organiser Rachael Woods said: “Our aim at Burntwood Pandas is to provide a safe place where mums can come and meet other mums who can relate to the same issues and talk openly without fear or judgement.

“As a result, friendships are blossoming within the local community and mums know that they don’t have to face post-natal depression alone. We are delighted that we have reached our first milestone – a year old and growing.

“Our members say that this support is vital and want to encourage more people to access the service so that mums know that ‘it’s okay not to be okay’.”
