A festive calendar of safety tips have been launched in Lichfield and Burntwood.

The Lichfield District Safer Community Partnership has asked a number of organisations to come up with their advice to keep people safe and healthy.

The tips include not leaving shopping and presents on display in cars, not attaching decorations to lights or heaters, only using licensed taxis and not washing turkeys before cooking them.

Councillor Doug Pullen, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet member for community, said: “We’ve put together our second calendar as it worked well last year at getting across important safety messages to local people.

“From Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to Staffordshire Police, through to our own community safety and environmental health teams, lots of safety experts have contributed to the calendar, and we all hope it will encourage people to take extra care this Christmas.”

The calendar is available from Lichfield District Council’s Frog Lane reception and venues across the district. More details are available online.
