The weather has again disrupted Lichfield’s Christmas plans. High winds forced the big festive lights switch on to be axed and a similar forecast for this weekend has seen two markets called off. The city council market has been cancelled completely, while the Twinkly Market along Minster Pool Walk has been rescheduled for December 12. A spokesperson for Lichfield District Council said: “The Bird Street Food event has been cancelled and the tourist information tent and free face painting has been moved to St Mary’s in the Market Square. “Activities at the Johnson Birthplace Museum will still be going ahead, as will Santa’s Grotto and art activities at Beacon Park. “Sunday’s activities will also go ahead as planned.” Organisers of the Lichfield Chamber of Trade Christmas Fayre on Sunday say the event will still go ahead as planned from 10am to 4pm.
