A Burntwood Christmas event has been hailed “a great success” by the town’s MP.
Michael Fabricant was among the visitors at the Sankey’s Corner event on Saturday.
Part of the road was pedestrianised for the day with amusement rides, a road train and stalls to get people in the festive spirit.
“This new Burntwood Town Council are really getting a grip on things,” said Mr Fabricant. “The Christmas Festival has proved itself to be a huge success and I congratulate the council and the many volunteers and business donors who helped make the event so popular.
“Without the council having this positive attitude it would never have happened. I hope that the Christmas Festival will grow in future years.”
Mr Fabricant said he hoped the event had given local decision-makers some thoughts for the future.
“Of course, what the Christmas Festival demonstrates, as did the go-kart races a while back, is the potential to make Sankey’s Corner the beating heart of Burntwood.
“I hope that in the future, the area can be permanently pedestrianised and the surrounding buildings improved to provide an attractive space for locals to enjoy.”
