One of Costa's current drive-thru coffee shops

Plans for a new drive-thru Costa outlet have been approved.

The coffee chain wants to create a new store at Wall Island.

Concerns had been raised by the owners of the nearby hotel about the noise generated by the drive-thru lanes.

But a planning officer said other businesses operating upto 24 hours a day nearby meant the impact would be minimal.

“The hours proposed by the new Costa Drive-Thru are not considered disproportionate to the existing operation hours of other units within Lichfield South to warrant a reason for refusal.”

Full details of the plans and decision notice can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s website.

No need to worry about the noise. It’ll only be commuters grabbing a coffee before work from around 6am ’til 9am. You have to wonder though how anyone can drink coffee while driving. I know I can’t.
