The Lichfield Mysteries is searching for groups of people who would like to be part of a major event this year.
Many of the 20-plus Mystery plays have already been taken up by groups for the May Day Bank Holiday event, but some key plays still need to be cast.
Production Manager Jill Taylor said: “We need actors for some of the remaining plays, which have fairly small casts and hope there are other groups from the area who would like to take part.
“They don’t have to be an existing group, but can just be friends who would like to give acting a try and who may have someone who would like to direct.
“Some of our actors are first-time performers and the Mysteries provides an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to have a go.
“The main thing about joining in with the Mysteries is that everyone has a good time, enjoys the rehearsals and has the satisfaction of performing in front of audiences in Market Square and Wade Street Church.”
The Lichfield Mystery Plays will be performed on May 1 and 2. Groups will be provided with the scripts for the short plays.
“Anyone who would like to help back-stage is also very welcome,” said Jill.
An army of volunteers are also needed to help in the general preparation of the event and over the weekend of the performances.
Groups interested in mustering for the Mysteries should contact Jill Taylor on 01543 264602 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
