Gritting crews have worked through the night as temperatures dropped below zero overnight in LIchfield and Burntwood.
Staffordshire County Council has urged drivers to take extra care as the cold snap continues to bite this week.
Highways leader, Cllr Mark Deaville, said: “We have been experiencing unseasonably mild weather in recent weeks, but now we are seeing sub-zero temperatures across Staffordshire.
“Our gritting teams will be in action throughout the week keeping the county on the move. However, people should always drive with extra care in icy conditions to ensure they and other road users remain safe.
“We’ll always treat our main roads if necessary and in prolonged periods of icy weather extend to other routes. We’re also grateful to our team of community Ice Busters, who are on standby to clear local paths.”
