The runners and riders for the Chadsmead by-election on February 18 have been confirmed.

Five candidates will contest the Lichfield District Council seat vacated by Lib Dem councillor Marion Bland following her resignation due to ill health.

They are:

  • Colin Ball (Labour)
  • Adam Elsdon (Greens)
  • Jan Higgins (UKIP)
  • Brian McMullan (Conservatives)
  • Paul Ray (Lib Dem)

Meanwhile, four candidates will contest the vacant Lichfield City Council seat:

  • Adam Elsdon (Greens)
  • Simran McMullan (Conservatives)
  • Paul Ray (Lib Dem)
  • Phil Sutcliffe (Labour)

  1. Please note that Labour’s Colin Ball is the only district candidate who lives in the ward he hopes to represent. He didnt stand for Parliament in May, as three of the candidates did, he wants to carry on (he has a track record) supporting residents fighting the cuts from Lichfield and Staffordshire councils.
