A community centre in Uganda has been given some of the kits the Lichfield City FC Saints Under 13 side had grown out of.

Manager Kieron Young said: “A few weeks ago, my sister was approached by a friend and colleague who was taking some time out to volunteer at various churches, schools and community centres in Uganda.

“They were looking for anyone who could assist with sparing a football shirt or two to take out there with her that she could pass on to a couple of the children.

“I said that I didn’t have one or two, but I did have a bucket load in my garage. They were delighted.”

The red and blue kits have now made their way out to Uganda.

And Kieron said he was delighted to see the old strips being put to good use.

“The aim was to help a set of young African orphans by providing them with football shirts as a pick-me-up,” he said. “The African continent has a vibrant, passionate and talented footballing community.

“It’s great to see the kits in the pictures we’ve been sent back.”
