The producer of the Players’ new show – Cheshire Cats – Ian Davies said: “The Lichfield Players feel some affinity with St Giles in so far as a number of our members have received support from the charity over the years and we are delighted to give something back.

“We have also set up a ‘Just Giving’ account so those who can’t make the walk and wish to make donations to St Giles can do so via our website.”

Cheshire Cats runs at the Garrick from July 19 to 23 and follows the story of a group of girls who aim to speed walk their way to fundraising success in the London Moonwalk while also enjoying a girly weekend in the capital – but a last minute replacement doesn’t quite have the required physical attributes/

Lichfield Players director Sarah Stanley said the show paid tribute to people who turn up en masse to support envents like the St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk.

“We are thrilled to be performing this heart-warming comedy which is full of camaraderie, trials and laughs,” she said. “This is an emotional play and if you know someone who has suffered from breast or other cancer, incredibly poignant.

“We are delighted and touched to have received a personal message of support and a donation from author Gail Young.”
