People in Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to find out more about becoming a Special Constable.

An event at Staffordshire Police HQ on July 5 will offer an insight into the voluntary role.

A spokesperson said: “The event gives those interested the chance to find out more about the expectations that the force and communities will have on them as fully warranted police officers.

“The Special Constabulary has a vital role to play within Staffordshire Police. As uniformed officers, Special Constables help provide reassurance through a more visible and locally identifiable policing presence.

“As well as giving something back to the community, Special Constables can acquire transferable skills, gain valuable experience and learn a lot from their regular colleagues. The role offers a great opportunity to see firsthand what a career in the police service might be like.”
