People warned to expect queues at some polling stations as Lichfield and Burntwood votes in the EU referendum

People are being warned they may have to queue to vote in the EU referendum across Lichfield and Burntwood.

Lichfield District Council is expecting a large turnout throughout the day.

Polling stations will be open until 10pm.

A council spokesperson said: “We anticipate there will be a large turnout at the polling stations, so you may have to queue.

“As such we are urging voters not to leave it until the last minute, to allow plenty of time to cast their vote, and wherever possible to go to the polling station as early as possible in the day, so that they don’t miss out on their chance to vote.”
