People are being invited to celebrate Britain’s tennis success at Wimbledon by picking up a racket this weekend.
Lichfield Friary Lawn Tennis Club is serving up a day of free action on Sunday (July 17) as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend.
To mark a week since Andy Murray won the singles title and Heather Watson was part of the victorious mixed doubles team, the club is opening its courts for people of all ages to try the game with a variety of activities including cardio tennis, parent and toddler sessions and there will also be a speed gun to measure how fast everyone can serve with a prize for the winner.
The day will also see a third off all senior and family memberships.
Club chairman Pete Woods said: “The Great British Tennis Weekend is a nationwide event and here in Lichfield we want to introduce as many people as possible to this great sport.
“We have over 350 members but always want more, especially youngsters and their families as they are our future.”
