A report has recommended refusing planning application for a new tea room and farm shop in Hints.

Cllr Brian Yeates
The proposed development at Manor Farm will go before Lichfield District Council’s planning committee after Cllr Brian Yeates said the local parish council had been supportive of the plan.

But a report to the committee has recommended they refuse the application.

A council officer said: “The proposed development would constitute an inappropriate form of development in the Green Belt which would, by definition, cause harm to it.

“The provision of a new building for a cafe, farm shop, associated visitor facilities, outdoor seating and play area, and car park in this location is unsustainable and does not conform with the provisions of the National Planning Policy Framework.

“The applicant was informed as such prior to submitting the application and given the opportunity to address the principle concerns.

“Alternative sites which would have less impact on the Green Belt were identified but not progressed.”

Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
