Shoppers in Lichfield have enjoyed a sneak peek at a new community musical.
The Hired Man will open at the Garrick tomorrow (July 29), but visitors to Speakers’ Corner last weekend heard 16 cast members perform a number of songs.

Alex Lloyd, from the Lichfield Garrick – who also plays a farmer in the show – said: “It was a great opportunity to perform some of The Hired Man songs and the response from the public was fantastic.
“The power and the warmth in the songs really rang through the streets of Lichfield and this was only a taster of the show.
“The cast cannot wait to now perform on stage backed by a seven piece band.”
The Hired Man follows the story of a young married couple and their struggle to carve a living from the land, just as the traditional rhythms of country life are swept away by the gathering storm of war in Europe.
The show will run until August 6. For tickets visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by call 01543 412121.
