Burntwood Town Council's offices at the Old Mining College Centre

Councillors in Burntwood will discuss proposals for a neighbourhood plan tonight.

Burntwood Town Council is in the process of pulling together the document which will help inform things such as future planning developments.

A meeting of the neighbourhood plan committee will hear the results of a consultation carried out with 6th Form students at Chase Terrace Technology College.

They highlighted areas they’d like to see improved, such as cheaper bus fares and improved shopping options.

A report to the town council added: “What was clear was that students would like Burntwood to have the facilities of other towns like Walsall, Tamworth and Cannock, although they did cite transport links to these centres as a positive aspect for Burntwood.

“There were comments about making Burntwood cleaner, improving Sankey’s Corner shops, getting pride back in the town, getting rid of graffiti and giving it a lick of paint.”

The meeting will take place at the Old Mining College Centre at 7pm tonight (August 16).
