Chasetown FC ended their run of six games without a win with a much needed three points.

The Scholars took the lead in the 18th minute. A superb crossfield ball by early substitute Peter Till eluded the defender and fell nicely to skipper James Dance who controlled the ball and volleyed past home keeper Ash Rawlins.

At the opposite end, Curtis Pond preserved his clean sheet with a stunning low save to deny Scott Ryan’s volley.

The visitors continued to dominate with Till creating all sorts of havoc on the right wing. From one cross, Jack Langston fired across goal only for Paul McMullen to clear ahead of Mitch Piggon.

On the hour, Drayton substitute Aiden Haughton tried his luck from long range but Pond dived to his left to keep it out.

The Scholars doubled their lead in the 72nd minute. Nathan Rooney’s corner was cleared as far as the midfielder but Rooney’s second cross was headed home by Leon Ashman.

Piggon almost added a third with a shot that struck the base of the near post.

Chasetown finally put the icing on the cake with a precise through ball from Langston and Dance netted his second with a cool finish.
