Lichfield City FC come from behind to beat Nuneaton Griff

Lichfield City FC carried their cup form into the league with a 3-1 win over Nuneaton Griff.

After seeing off Paget Rangers by the same scoreline in the JW Hunt Cup in midweek, Dave Langston’s men were full of confidence and had the better of the opening exchanges.

Oliver Hayward drilled an early effort at the keeper, while Nick Harris curled a free kick over as City signalled their intent.

But it was the visitors who took a surprise lead when Lichfield gave the ball away and a defence splitting pass allowed the Nuneaton striker to net.

City were keen to rectify the situation and immediately went on the offensive with Dan Thurstance seeing a shot blocked.

It took until the second half for Lichfield to finally get the rewards their hard work deserved as an own goal and then a Joshua Haston header turning the game around.

City continued to carve out chances in a positive second period and they killed the game off when a quick break saw Richard Deavall polish off the 3-1 win for his side.
