Dominant Chasetown FC hit five to beat Market Drayton Town

Chasetown FC returned to winning league ways with a dominant display against Market Drayton Town.

The hosts started brightly and deservedly took the lead in the 24th minute as Mitch Piggon fired a first time shot past Ashley Rawlins.

The Shropshire side were level two minutes later though when William Whieldon slid the ball through to Jud Ellis whose shot deflected past Curtis Pond almost in slow motion.

A minute before the break, Chasetown regained the lead as Josh Ruff drilled a left foot shot past Rawlins from the edge of the penalty area.

At the start of the second half, The Scholars extended their lead with another sweet left footer from Ruff.

Nathan Rooney then squandered a chance for a fourth goal as Rawlins saved his spot kick.

Ruff completed his hat trick with a goal of sheer genius beating player after player and lashing his effort past a stranded keeper.

Skipper Jermaine Johnson bulleted home a header from a Rooney corner to wrap up the points.
