Lichfield City FC secure local bragging rights with win at Heath Hayes

Lichfield City FC took the local bragging rights as they saw off Heath Hayes with a 3-0 win.

Dave Langston’s men were quick out of the blocks with Haston spurning an early chance before Nick Harris had the ball in the net, only to see his header disallowed.

But the opener did come with just seven minutes on the clock when Oliver Hayward netted.

It was 2-0 to Lichfield as Haston added his name to the scoresheet midway through the first half.

The lead was further extended just after the start of the second half when Joe Clarke took aim from distance to beat the keeper.

Haston almost made it four as Lichfield’s dominance continued.

There were to be no further goals, although a red card for either side following a bout of handbags near the end – sub Matt Tolley getting his marching orders for City – did provide a late talking point.
