Lichfield health club to be sold as part of deal between Virgin Active and David Lloyd Leisure

A Lichfield health club is being sold to new owners.

The Virgin Active site will become part of the David Lloyd Leisure business as part of a deal to buy 16 venues across the country.

Members have been told of the change – which is likely to take place towards the end of April – at the Wall Island venue.

In a letter, the new owners told Virgin Active members it would be business as usual during the changeover, adding: “We anticipate that all services that you currently have access to will remain the same.”

Once the deal is completed, it will see Lichfield become one of 111 David Lloyd Leisure sites across Europe.

CEO Glenn Earlam said: “The acquisition of these new sites will be a great move for us, and they move David Lloyd Leisure into several important new areas of the country, reaching new local markets and meaning that far more of the UK’s population can take advantage of our health and fitness facilities.

“Most importantly, we are committed to investing and developing these newly acquired clubs, which is great news for both team and members at these clubs.

“We look forward to welcoming them all.”
