Berti getting ready to lose her long hair for charity

A cub scout from Lichfield is having her long hair cut off for charity.

Berti Waldon, 8, plans to donate her locks to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children suffering hair loss due to cancer or other illness.

The Willows School pupil will also be aiming to raise money for cancer and leukaemia charity CLIC Sargent when her hair is cut off at her cub pack meeting on March 20.

“I learnt more about cancer last year when my Daddy had it,” she said. “He is now OK but there are still lots of people including children who are suffering – I want to now try and help some of them.”

An online fundraising page has been set up and has already received donations of more than £600 through the page and other activities.

People can also donate by sending cheques made payable to “6th Lichfield Scout Group” and sent to Akela c/o 6th Lichfield Scout HQ, Christchurch Lane, Lichfield, WS13 8BE.
