Day to forget as Lichfield City FC are comfortably beaten by Stafford Town

Lichfield City FC endured a day to forget as they were beaten 4-1 at Stafford Town.

The early signs weren’t good for Dave Langston’s men as they fell behind in the opening stages through a Jordan Hunt own goal.

Things didn’t get any better as a defensive mix-up allowed Frederick Mtumbi to double the home side’s lead.

It was a first half bossed by Stafford and they could have been out of sight before the interval after seeing a goal disallowed.

Mtumbi almost bagged himself another early in the second half as Lichfield showed little sign of improvement after the break, but the Stafford man miss-kicked with the goal at his mercy.

The third goal always looked like going the home side’s way and so it proved as Ryan Price netted from the penalty spot.

Lichfield’s misery wasn’t yet complete though as Jeremy Redler added a fourth for Stafford.

Dan Thurstance did bag a consolation for City, but it proved to be far too little far too late.
