A report has recommended councillors approve plans for a new crematorium at a cemetery in Burntwood.
The owners of the Chase and District Memorial Park hope to change the use of an existing building on the Burntwood Way site.
However, objections have been raised by Hammerwich Parish Council and Burntwood Town Council over the proposals over issues such as development in the Green Belt.
But a report to Lichfield District Council has urged the scheme be given the go-ahead.
“While there will be extensions to the building, including the introduction of the chimney which results in a small height increase, it is considered that this would not represent disproportionate extensions to a building in the Green Belt.
“It is considered that there would be no material harm to the amenities of neighbouring uses or any detriment to highway safety.”
The report will be discussed at a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee on March 20.
