Chasetown FC record overdue win against play-off hopefuls AFC Rushden and Diamonds

Chasetown FC dented AFC Rushden and Diamonds’ play off bid with a goal in each half.

The Scholars took the lead after 13 minutes when Josh Ruff drilled the ball into the penalty area and Ryan Wynter cleverly back heeled past Matt Finlay.

Rushden equalised at the start of the second half after Leon Miles was penalised for handball and Nabil Shariff sent Curtis Pond the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Chasetown regained the lead 15 minutes from the end. Leading goalscorer Jack Langston advanced from midfield and drilled his 22nd strike of the season along the ground and past the keeper.

Rushden pushed for an equaliser and Ben Ford was a whisker wide of Pond’s right hand post.
